Biography
Every once in a while someone comes along that justifies the hype and blows your
mind.
Grace Solero's music possesses a certain raw energy that few artists can convincingly
convey. She has a visceral, intense stage presence and a mercurial voice that ranges
from heart-wrenching power to a reflective, sensual lyricism. Her songs are a delicate
balance of earthy and spiritual, forces of nature combined, both darkness and light.
Originally a gymnast, founding member and front woman Grace Solero studied acting
and contemporary dance in Rome while taking voice lessons from a German opera singer.
Soon after she started playing guitar and her passionate love affair with rock music
began, a love that would lead her to London in search of like-minded musicians.
It was while working on the music and dance for Oscar Wilde's "Salome" at the Theatro
Technis that Grace came across Californian guitarist, singer and composer Dan Beaulaurier,
and an exceptional musical partnership was born. After playing a series of successful
acoustic gigs together, they added bass and drums to complete their sound. With
Grace's stunning looks and passionate performance they began to make a name for
themselves on the London underground music circuit.
A UK tour gave the band credible recognition and a loyal following. After being
spotted by Ace, the guitarist from Skunk Anansie, the band were invited to perform
with him on one of his radio shows. Punk pioneers The Vibrators' front man and founder
Knox, described Grace as having a "world-class voice" and went on to record several
tracks with her. More recently, influential director David Kenny of Genertik Music
Videos added himself to the growing list of Grace Solero fans and produced the much
acclaimed video for the single "Troops" (released in May 2009).
A glorious sonic collision of musical influences, Grace Solero's debut album New
Moon is hypnotic. Already championed by The Fly and Classic Rock, it is a mesmerising
musical repertoire with heartfelt songs, all delivered in Grace's trademark gutsy
and vibrant style. Emerging like a dark pop-rock cloud with its gritty lyricism,
soaring riffs and pain ridden vocals, New Moon is out now.
